Pipeline with weighted forecast and stage breakdown

A Close to SalesCrew move runs on the Export option in Close's Leads search: leads become companies, contacts and opportunities follow, notes come from the activity export, email history returns through each mailbox over IMAP, and a standard import completes within 7 business days.

What to know before you export from Close

  • Close exports leads, contacts and opportunities from the Leads search page as CSV or JSON (checked on help.close.com, September 2026).
  • Close activities, including notes, export as JSON only, and every Close download link expires after 7 days.
  • In Close, a lead is the company record. In SalesCrew, it becomes a company with its people attached as contacts.
  • SalesCrew matches each imported contact on email address, fills in missing fields and never overwrites an existing value.

Where each Close record lands in SalesCrew

How a Close migration runs

Five steps. You pull the exports from Close; we'll run the import with you.

  1. 1

    Export leads, contacts and opportunities

In Close, open Leads, clear any filter, then use the ... menu and choose Export three times: once for Leads, once for Contacts and once for Opportunities. Pick All fields each time.

  2. 2

    Export activities as JSON

Repeat the Leads export in JSON format, which carries activities such as notes and calls. Download every file within 7 days of the email.

  3. 3

    Recreate your opportunity statuses

Build a SalesCrew pipeline whose stages match your Close opportunity statuses, so every deal keeps its place.

  4. 4

    Load contacts, then everything else

The contacts file goes into the Data Bank first. Companies, deals, notes and tasks then load through company_create, deal_create, note_add and task_create.

  5. 5

    Connect mailboxes

Each rep connects Gmail, Outlook or cPanel mail over IMAP and SMTP. The first sync backfills 90 days of threads onto the right contacts.

Close workflows become SalesCrew cadences

You rebuild each Close workflow as a multi-step SalesCrew cadence. Cadences send from the mailbox pool, with caps per mailbox and per domain, and suppression is checked when the audience is frozen and again at send.

Every step you rebuild is also a tool on the SalesCrew MCP server. Your AI client can enroll a contact, log a note or move a deal, and each external action it proposes waits in the approval queue until a person approves it. Seats stay unlimited, so every rep who used Close gets a login on day one.

Download each Close export the same day

Close export links expire after 7 days (checked on help.close.com, September 2026). Save every file to shared storage as it arrives. Once you're on SalesCrew, a full export of your own database is available any time, as a Postgres dump plus CSV.

Questions about leaving Close

How do I export my data from Close?
Open Leads in the left navigation, filter if you need to, then use the ... menu and choose Export. Set the type to Leads, Contacts or Opportunities and pick CSV or JSON. Close emails a download link that expires after 7 days (checked on help.close.com, September 2026).
Can I bring my Close notes and call history across?
Yes, from Close's activity export. Close exports activities such as notes, emails and calls in JSON format only (checked on help.close.com, September 2026). SalesCrew loads each note onto the matching contact or deal with note_add, and email threads come back through the mailbox's 90-day IMAP backfill.
How long does a Close to SalesCrew migration take?
A standard import completes within 7 business days once your Close export files reach us. Mailboxes connect on the first day, so reps keep working replies while the records load.
What happens to a Close lead with several contacts?
It becomes one SalesCrew company with each person attached as a contact. Close calls the company record a lead, so the Leads export feeds company_create and the Contacts export feeds the Data Bank.
Does migration help cost extra?
No. Migration help is included on every SalesCrew tier, from $299 a month with unlimited seats for the whole team.
