EZLynx wins on pricing clarity within a category where none of the four publish a number. Its own site is explicit that cost scales with user count and product mix. That gives a buyer a real variable to reason about before calling sales. Vertafore AMS360 wins instead if integration breadth with other Vertafore products and carrier systems is the deciding factor, given its published open API and AgencyOne platform.

The short answer

  • None of the four AMS platforms checked publish a price on their own site. Applied Epic's pricing pages returned an access error on repeated checks. HawkSoft, EZLynx and Vertafore AMS360 all route to a sales contact.
  • EZLynx states directly that there is 'no single flat rate.' Cost varies by user count and the specific rating, policy management and CRM products an agency bundles in, per ezlynx.com/pricing.
  • Vertafore AMS360 is the only one of the four to publish specific AI-feature claims with numbers attached. An AI Email Agent (stated 80% time saved, 98% accuracy) and an AI Reconciliation Agent (stated 90% time saved across 200+ carriers), per vertafore.com. Those figures come from the vendor and are not independently verified.

Figures checked on ezlynx.com/pricing, hawksoft.com and vertafore.com/products/ams360, September 2026. Applied Epic's own pricing and product pages (appliedsystems.com) returned an access error on every path attempted and could not be independently verified; nothing about its pricing or integrations is asserted here beyond what its site's own marketing states elsewhere.

How the four differ in practice

Applied Epic

One of the longest-established agency management systems in the category, widely used across independent agencies. Its own pricing and product detail pages could not be verified directly during this review. Nothing specific about its current feature set or integration depth is claimed here beyond what is publicly known to exist. Not for: a buyer wanting to verify claims against the vendor's own site before a call.

HawkSoft

Differentiates on proactive retention-risk alerts that flag clients likely to churn. It adds lead and sales-funnel tracking with cross-sell and upsell reporting built into agency analytics. Every path to more detail, including basic feature depth, routes through a sales call or demo request rather than a self-serve trial. Not for: an agency that wants to explore the product hands-on before talking to a salesperson.

EZLynx

Bundles a rating engine, policy management, CRM and a client portal into a single product. It positions itself as cheaper total cost of ownership than assembling separate point solutions for each function. It also offers discounts through named network partners (SIAA, PIA Select, Firefly). A broker-affiliated agency should ask about those directly. Not for: an agency wanting a hard number without a quote conversation, even though the pricing logic itself is disclosed.

Vertafore AMS360

The most integration-forward of the four on paper. An open API, an AgencyOne platform tying AMS360 to other Vertafore tools, and named AI agents for email handling and reconciliation with specific stated time-savings. Those AI performance figures come from Vertafore's own marketing and are not independently verified here. Not for: a smaller agency wanting the simplest possible system without a multi-product platform to learn.

When none of these is the answer

A brand-new agency with a single producer and a small book of business does not need a full agency management system on day one. A simple spreadsheet or a lighter CRM tracks policies and renewals without the implementation overhead a real AMS assumes from the start.

SalesCrew is not included in the ranking above. It does not rate policies, manage carrier downloads or handle commission reconciliation. Those are the job of a dedicated AMS, not a general CRM. Where SalesCrew is relevant is the sales pipeline that brings a new policyholder in before their policy exists in the AMS at all. That is a separate system sitting beside one of the four above, not a replacement for any of them.

Questions

Can I get a real price for any of these agency management systems?
Not from any of the four checked. Applied Epic, HawkSoft, EZLynx and Vertafore AMS360 all require a sales conversation before a dollar figure appears anywhere. EZLynx's own site is explicit that there is no single flat rate. Price varies by user count and product mix.
Which one has the most transparent pricing model, even without a number?
EZLynx, on the transparency of its model rather than a published figure. Its own site states pricing scales with user count and the specific products bundled in. A prospective buyer at least knows what drives the quote before calling sales.
Do these systems have an open API?
Vertafore AMS360 publishes an open API for third-party integrations, plus its own AgencyOne platform connecting to other Vertafore products and carrier systems. EZLynx and Applied Epic do not detail API access on their public pages. That does not confirm either way whether one exists.
What's the real differentiator between these four?
AI-assisted workflow claims. Vertafore markets an AI Email Agent and an AI Reconciliation Agent with stated time-saved figures on its own site. HawkSoft leans on retention-risk alerts and cross-sell reporting. None of these AI claims are independently verified here. They are the vendor's own stated marketing.
