How is a new workspace created and approved on the platform?
Each customer gets its own workspace with its own database. A request comes from the sign-up form or from an agency. A super admin approves it in the platform console. Approval starts the build. The new workspace reports in by itself once it is up.
What you will need
- Super admin rights on the platform console. Other roles can see requests but not approve them.
- A request: a sign-up from the website, or an agency clicking Add workspace.
Steps
- 1
Step 1
Open the platform console and go to Signups. Each row is one request with its company and message.
- 2
Step 2
Click Approve & provision to build a workspace now. The provision form opens with the request filled in. Click Approve only if you will set it up by hand. Click Reject and give a reason to turn it down.
- 3
Step 3
Agency requests wait on Deployments under Waiting for approval. Click Approve to start the build, or Reject with a reason.
- 4
Step 4
To build one yourself, click Provision a deployment on Deployments. Enter the key, the customer, the plan and the owner's e-mail.
- 5
Step 5
Watch Provisioning jobs. The build takes a few minutes. The owner gets an invite when it is done.
- 6
Step 6
Open the new row. Check Last heartbeat and Version. A heartbeat means the workspace is up and talking to the platform. The switch Require approval for new instances is on by default. Leave it on so no build starts without a person saying yes. A build is the step that costs money.
Common errors
- The request stays waiting
- only a super admin can approve. Ask one, or check your role.
- No heartbeat after the build
- the workspace did not finish setting up. Open Provisioning jobs for the failed step.
- The key is taken
- keys are unique. Pick another key and try again.
How you know it worked
The deployment shows active with a heartbeat from the last few minutes. The owner can sign in to SalesCrew.
Where this goes in SalesCrew
The deployment shows active in the platform console with a recent last heartbeat. In your own workspace the same how-to opens beside the field, with your callback URLs filled in.
