What step types can an omnichannel sequence have, and where does each one's text go?
Each step has a day, a type and a title. The type decides where its words go. Message steps keep the text in the message box. An email step needs a template name, a subject and a body. A call step takes a brief. A content step points at a post. A manual step takes instructions and the details to show. Text in the wrong place is refused with an error that names the right field.
What you will need
- Omnichannel campaigns turned on for SalesCrew. An admin turns them on under Settings → Deployment.
- A manager or admin role to save a sequence.
- For a content step, a post in Content. For a call step with the ICP script, an ICP kit.
Steps
- 1
Step 1
Open Outreach → Omnichannel and click New sequence. Give it a name.
- 2
Step 2
Click Add step. Set the Day (1 to 60, never earlier than the step before) and a Title.
- 3
Step 3
Pick the step type. Each type takes these fields: - LinkedIn view (li_view) and LinkedIn like (li_like): nothing else. A note is optional. - LinkedIn connect (li_connect): the note in the message box, 300 characters at most. It may be empty. - LinkedIn message (li_message): the message. It needs a connect step earlier in the list. - SMS (sms): the message, 1600 characters at most. - WhatsApp (whatsapp): the message, 4096 characters at most. - Instagram DM (instagram): the message, 1000 characters at most. People with no Instagram handle are skipped. - Facebook DM (facebook_dm): the message, 2000 characters at most. People with no Facebook link are skipped. - Email (email): a template name, a subject and a body. All three are needed. - Call (call): the ICP call script, or your own brief. You can set 1 to 5 attempts. - Content post (content): the post to publish, pin or share. A later step can add its live link. - Manual task (manual): what to do, and an optional message to paste. Tick the details the task shows. - Wait (wait): a pause. It takes no text.
- 4
Step 4
To write each person's message later, tick Personal. Leave the message box empty.
- 5
Step 5
Use placeholders in a message. {{kit.offer}} fills in a field from the ICP kit. {{step3.post_link}} adds the live link of content step 3. Every step also fills in the person's own details: <your-first_name>, <your-last_name>, <your-full_name>, <your-company>, <your-title>, <your-email>, <your-phone> and <your-website>. The text you copy on a step task already has each person's name in it. If someone has no first name, that word is left blank, and the launch check tells you how many people that is. For words that differ per person beyond those details, tick Personal.
- 6
Step 6
Click Save. Fix any red text under a step first.
Common errors
- "message" is not a step field
- the text is in the wrong place. On an SMS, WhatsApp, LinkedIn or DM step it goes in the message box.
- An email step needs a template name, subject and body
- fill in all three, together.
- A LinkedIn message needs an earlier connect step
- add a connect step before it.
- Days must not go backwards
- each step's day must be the same as, or later than, the step before.
- A step type is missing from the list
- Instagram and Facebook DM steps send by hand. Ask an admin to turn on the channel.
How you know it worked
The sequence saves with no red text. Open a campaign that uses it and check each step's message on the Messages tab.
Where this goes in SalesCrew
The sequence saves with no red text under any step. In your own workspace the same how-to opens beside the field, with your callback URLs filled in.
