The short answer

  • Pipedrive allows sales email and Sequences to prospects, but its acceptable use policy bars harvesting email addresses without the recipient's express, verifiable approval to receive marketing.
  • Pipedrive's acceptable use policy, effective 7 January 2025, also bars selling or renting mailing lists. Scraped or bought lists sent through Pipedrive break the terms you agreed to.
  • Pipedrive's policy names CAN-SPAM and CASL. Those laws apply to every cold email, whichever tool you send it from.
  • SalesCrew is a CRM built for outbound: cadences run on your own mailbox pool, and suppression is enforced when the audience freezes and again at send time.

What Pipedrive's acceptable use policy says about email lists

Pipedrive's acceptable use policy is part of its terms of service. It bars collecting "email addresses, without the express, verifiable approval from a recipient to receive marketing communication." It also rules out selling or renting a mailing list.

In plain terms, you can email people you have a real connection with. A lead from your web form, a contact from an event or a referral all fit. A list you scraped from a directory or bought from a data vendor doesn't, because nobody on it approved your marketing.

What Pipedrive does offer for outreach

Pipedrive sells Sequences as part of its prospecting tools. Its product page describes a sequence as a set of personal touches, like emails, calls and social messages, that move a prospect toward a deal. That works well for warm leads and follow-ups on your own contacts.

The line is the list, not the feature. If your pipeline starts from contacts you sourced yourself without their approval, you'll need somewhere else to send from. A common fix is to bolt on a cold email tool and sync the replies back.

Running cold email and the pipeline in one CRM

SalesCrew treats outbound as a normal part of the job. You build an audience in the data bank, SalesCrew removes suppressed contacts when the audience freezes, and multi-step cadences send from your own mailbox pool. Per-mailbox and per-domain daily caps keep volume steady. Suppression is checked again at send time.

Replies land in the same unified inbox as your deals, and an unsubscribe or bounce suppresses the contact automatically. Core starts at $299 a month with unlimited seats. Read more on the outbound page or in is cold email legal.

You still own consent and the law that applies to you, whatever CRM you pick. SalesCrew enforces the suppression and opt-out side for you.

A banned account loses more than the campaign

If a vendor closes your account over list sourcing, your pipeline history goes with it. Check where each list came from before it enters any CRM, and keep the source on the contact record.

Questions

Can I send Pipedrive Sequences to prospects I found myself?
Yes, if the way you collected their addresses fits Pipedrive's acceptable use policy. That policy, effective 7 January 2025, bars harvesting email addresses without the recipient's express, verifiable approval to receive marketing. A contact who filled in your form is fine. An address scraped off a website isn't.
Can I import a bought lead list into Pipedrive and email it?
Treat that as off limits. Pipedrive's acceptable use policy bars selling or renting mailing lists and promoting lead generation services that resell customer data, as read in September 2026. Emailing a bought list through Pipedrive puts your account at risk under the terms you accepted.
Which laws does Pipedrive's policy point to for email?
Pipedrive's acceptable use policy names the US CAN-SPAM Act and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), among other rules. Those laws bind you whatever tool sends the email. In the EU, GDPR also governs how you collect and use a prospect's address.
Where does cold email run if my CRM is Pipedrive?
A common setup adds a separate sending tool and syncs replies back. That leaves two systems and two contact lists to keep in sync. A CRM that allows outbound runs the cadence and the pipeline in one database, which is the setup SalesCrew uses from $299 a month.
