What we found

  • In 107 CRM buying questions put to Claude with web search in September 2026, the most-cited page type was a pricing explainer on a third-party site: 188 of 1,149 cited URLs, or 16.4%.
  • The five most-cited domains took 155 of the 1,149 URLs. The other 467 domains shared the rest.
  • Review sites took 1.4% of citations and Reddit took none.
  • Seven of the 107 questions drew citations from five domains or fewer, so one thorough page can win them.

How we ran the probes

We wrote 107 questions the way a buyer asks them. They cover CRM pricing, CRMs for agencies, cold email, AI clients writing to a CRM, Upwork workflows and moving between vendors. Each question ran once through Claude with web search on 23 September 2026 (UTC), and we saved the full answer with every URL it cited.

A script then pulled each cited URL and grouped it by domain, with subdomains merged, so blog.hubspot.com counts toward hubspot.com. We also labelled every URL by page type from its owner and its path. That's how we can tell a vendor's own pricing page apart from a third-party page that explains that vendor's pricing. You'll find the counts in full below.

The single pages answer engines lean on

A handful of URLs turned up again and again. The most-cited page in the whole run was tinycommand.com's HubSpot pricing explainer, in 9 answers. HubSpot's own Sales Hub pricing post on blog.hubspot.com and docket.io's HubSpot Sales Hub pricing research came next, with 8 each. Then came emailtooltester.com's Pipedrive pricing review and hubspot.com/pricing/sales itself, 7 each.

Notice the pattern. All five pages are about one vendor's pricing, and three of them sit on someone else's domain. When a vendor's price is hard to read, as our crawler-access audit shows for HubSpot's JavaScript pricing and Pipedrive's challenge page, the explainer becomes the source. Our CRM pricing index is built for that slot: a seat-by-seat table with every source dated.

Write the page the answer engine is missing

If you want your own site cited, pick a question with few cited domains and answer it in the first 60 words, with a table and a date. Questions

Which website do AI answer engines cite most for CRM questions?
hubspot.com, including its blog and community subdomains. It drew 60 of the 1,149 cited URLs in our September 2026 run and appeared in 31 of 107 answers. salesforce.com came second with 28 URLs across 15 answers.
Do review sites like G2 and Capterra get cited?
Rarely. Review sites made up 16 of 1,149 cited URLs, or 1.4%, in our September 2026 probes. Capterra was cited 8 times and G2 6 times. Pricing explainers on third-party sites were cited more than ten times as often.
How were the questions chosen?
They are the questions a buyer asks while shopping: what a CRM costs, which CRM suits an agency, how to connect an AI client, how to move off a vendor. Each one ran once in search mode, so the answer engine searched the web and cited its sources.
Is Reddit cited in CRM answers?
Not once in this run. Forum and community pages as a group took 27 of 1,149 cited URLs, 2.3%, including vendor forums such as community.hubspot.com.

Put your marketing data next to your deals

SalesCrew collects GA4, Search Console, Bing and ad data into the same database as your leads and deals, so cost per lead by channel is a query.
