Your CRM vendor blocks the AI your buyers ask
We tested 24 CRM and sales-tool sites against AI crawlers. Blocking kept no vendor out of the answers. It changed who explains their price.

The short answer
- On 24 September 2026, three of 24 CRM and sales-tool sites returned a 403 error to AI-bot user agents on their pricing page: Salesforce, Zoho and Vendasta.
- Pipedrive's pricing page served a Cloudflare challenge to every client we tried. HubSpot, Copper and ActiveCampaign render prices with JavaScript, so raw HTML shows no price.
- Blocking did not remove any vendor from AI answers. In nine search probes about those vendors, Claude cited the vendor's own domain every time.
- Each of those nine answers also cited 3 to 8 independent explainers. When a vendor's price is hard to read, a third party's version of it gets quoted.
What we tested, and how
We picked 24 sites buyers compare when they shop for a CRM or a sales tool. For each one we read robots.txt for 14 AI crawlers. We then fetched the pricing page four ways: as a browser, as curl, and with the user agents GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot declare.
One caution on reading the results. Those bot requests came from an ordinary IP address, not the crawlers' own. A 403 shows that the site has a rule for that user agent. It doesn't prove what the real, verified crawler receives. The full method and every row are in the crawler access report.
What AI crawlers meet on CRM pricing pages
| What we saw | Sites | Count of 24 |
|---|---|---|
| AI bots blocked in robots.txt (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended) | None | 0 |
| 403 error to AI-bot user agents on the pricing page | Salesforce, Zoho, Vendasta | 3 |
| Cloudflare challenge on the pricing page for every client tried | Pipedrive | 1 |
| Prices rendered by JavaScript, absent from raw HTML | HubSpot, Copper, ActiveCampaign | 3 |
Tests run 24 September 2026 on each vendor's own site. Full data: CRM vendors and AI crawler access, 2026.
The vendor stays in the answer anyway
You might expect a blocked page to vanish from AI answers. It doesn't. We ran nine search probes about the vendors in that table, asking about their prices, limits and exports. Every answer still cited the vendor's own domain, including help centres that sit behind a challenge.
The reason is how search-mode answers work. They draw on search-index snippets and don't need a live fetch of the page. The vendor's pricing URL is in the index, so it gets cited even when a bot couldn't read it that day.
But someone else explains the price
Here's the part that matters to you as a buyer. Each of those nine answers also cited 3 to 8 independent explainer sites. Pricing aggregators, publisher reviews and consultants' write-ups filled in the numbers the vendor's page didn't hand over.
Across our wider panel of 107 CRM questions, pricing explainers on third-party sites were the most cited page type: 188 of 1,149 URLs. So when you ask an assistant what a CRM costs, the figure you get often comes from someone other than the vendor. It may be accurate. It may also be last year's.
What to do with an AI-quoted CRM price
- Treat the figure as a lead, not a quote. Open the vendor's pricing page in a browser.
- Match the tier, the billing term (monthly or annual) and the seat count before comparing.
- Write down the date you checked. CRM prices and bot rules both change within months.
- Price the team you'll have next year, with the add-ons you'll need.
We follow the same rule on salescrew.io. Every page is prerendered to plain HTML, prices included, and every competitor figure we print carries the vendor's page and the month we checked it.
Questions
- Do CRM vendors block ChatGPT and Claude from their websites?
- Few do it in robots.txt. None of the 24 CRM and sales-tool sites we checked on 24 September 2026 blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended there. Three sites, Salesforce, Zoho and Vendasta, returned a 403 error to AI-bot user agents on their pricing page, and Pipedrive's pricing page served a Cloudflare challenge.
- If a vendor blocks AI bots, does it disappear from AI answers?
- No. In our nine search probes about blocked or JavaScript-priced vendors, the answer cited the vendor's own domain every time. Search-mode answers draw on search-index snippets, so they don't need a live fetch. What changes is who explains the price: each of those answers also cited 3 to 8 independent explainer sites.
- How do I check a CRM price that an AI assistant gave me?
- Open the vendor's own pricing page in a browser and compare the tier, the billing term and the seat count. Note the date you checked. If the vendor renders prices with JavaScript, the AI may have taken the figure from a third-party explainer, which can be months old.
- What does salescrew.io let AI crawlers read?
- Everything a buyer reads. Every salescrew.io page is prerendered to plain HTML, prices included, so a crawler that reads raw HTML sees the same figures you do: Core at $299 a month with unlimited seats.
