What each one is actually built to automate
Zapier Agents
Zapier Agents has the widest reach of the three. It runs on Zapier's library of app links, so each tool doesn't need its own build. Agent use is billed apart from core Zapier tasks, so if you pay for Zapier today, you pay again for agents. Not for: a business that wants approval review without an Enterprise contract.
Clay (Claygent)
Claygent does one job well: it researches records and fills them in from many outside data providers. It comes with every paid tier, not as an add-on. Clay's own terms treat buying third-party data as a core function, and they put the legal duty on you. Not for: general business tasks outside research and data lookups.
SalesCrew
Disclosure: SalesCrew is our product. Its agents work inside a real sales pipeline: contacts, cadences, the inbox and approvals. How to choose
Choose Zapier Agents if you want one agent to reach many apps you already use. Choose Clay if research and data lookups are the main job. Choose SalesCrew if you want agents working your sales pipeline under review: every agent ships in review mode, and external sends wait in one approval queue you control.
Be wary of approval claims that aren't specific. A tool that lists human review as a feature is not the same as one that holds every outside action in a queue by default. Check which one you're getting.

- A chatbot mostly answers questions. An agent takes actions: it can call tools, update records, send messages, or trigger a workflow, not only generate text in response to a prompt.
